I am a Registered Nurse, Yoga Teacher (specializing in Restorative Yoga), Trained Grief Support Group Facilitator, and Certified Radical Remission Health Coach, in addition to being a Wife and Mother of 5. I believe the human body is beautifully intricate and ready for each one of us to share a life connected.
The meaning of life for me has in part been drafted by trauma and disease. My mother died in a car accident when I was 13 and my father died of cancer when I was 21. The impact of their lives and their passings carry on in my heart, and for awhile, carried on in my body. I was diagnosed with Lupus and Sjogren’s when I was 28, but eventually took this as an opportunity to discover my body, mind, and soul, which has been enlivening. Navigating life, loss, and motherhood, I understand how pushing your body to do what you want isn't always what it needs.
Many people experience healthy movement in their lives as a stop and go process. As a health coach and yoga instructor, I hold space for other brave souls seeking to spark healing and intentionally allow it to flow. I believe that at any age, or stage of life, you can empower yourself to live the life that is right for you.
Yoga is something I've been drawn to since I was in high school working out at home with my VHS. When I was a travel nurse, I visited yoga studios across the country and noted my comfort zones, my intrigue, and my excitement for what teachings and poses I resonated most with in each place. It wasn't until this exposure that I felt a deeper connection to the movement and chose to start my teacher training. I began my teacher training at Santa Barbara Yoga, which then brought me up the hill to the White Lotus Foundation for my 200 hours, as well as further advanced training in restorative yoga and yoga practice/theory. Throughout my years practicing yoga and training with various gifted teachers, I found a true presence of peace in my life with yoga.
I have now 5 beautiful yogis-in-training who teach my husband and I both so much everyday. They are our mirrors and our hearts wrapped in their own little bodies and souls. They bring softness and adventure that makes everyday a world of wow, and this centers me in (or after!) every wild moment. I am grateful for the magical blessing I call my family.
Yoga is freedom of each individual's body, mind, and spirit, and the heart values the attention we bring to it. People think you need to be good at yoga to start, but flexibility and balance are a state of mind. Poses can look pretty but can be entirely wrong for your body without awareness of your experience with each one in the moment. Growing up as an athlete only to then feel despair with my body and health left me with a broken soul for awhile. It also was the catalyst for finding and honoring the power of stillness and movement.
"Erin is a wonderful and knowledgeable human. She understands how to connect with you on a deep level while intuitively observing your answers and asking all of the right questions to inspire you to connect to your own inner knowing and self love."
"Erin has such a gentle nature and calming way of teaching yoga. Her classes are fun and really teach her young students how to restore their bodies and minds."
2019: 10 years into my diagnosis, now with more responsibility as a parent and new physical challenges with my body. Sometimes I was so fatigued that 1 hour of exercise could take me out for the entire day. I felt blinded to my soul without being able to use my body as I expected to. I felt frustrated that the exercise that used to energize me was now also what deflated me.
